UMN Program and Course Glossary

Opportunity for UHP students to serve the surrounding community through classroom tutoring in area public schools. Students may receive an Honors non-course experience based upon fulfillment of community-engagement requirements. 

This course is the second field experience for students in the Elementary Education Foundations major, It is taken concurrently with EPSY 5616 and EPSY 5613

Core course in the Racial Justice and Urban Schooling Minor. Students typically spend 20 hours in an urban education context (in or out of schools).

This course is for students in the Elementary Education Foundations major. It is paired with CI 3211.

This course familiarizes students with the principles and practice of applied psychology in educational and community settings. Through supervised fieldwork experiences—in either research or practice settings—students will develop an understanding of ethical considerations in educational psychology and explore how psychological research can be used to advance the practice of psychology in applied settings.

Exploratory program for undergraduates interested in teaching as a career.

Program for undergraduate students dedicated to connecting community work and their academics. Students complete 400 hours of community work over multiple years.

Work-study employment opportunity for those interested in mentoring K-8th grade youth in literacy/reading/homework help

Program for graduate students, working towards initial licensure in 5-12 Social Studies Education. Students complete 8-12 weeks in pre-student teaching experience.
